Nach über zehn Jahren veröffentlichen Slapshot um Bandgründer und Stimme Jack "Choke" Kelly ihr neues Album. Die aktuelle Besetzung bestehend aus Craig Silvermain/Gitarre (u.a. Blood for Blood, Agnostic Front, Ramallah u.a.), Ryan Packer/Bass und John Bean/Drums hat sich in den letzten Jahren über zahlreiche Touren bewährt und legt jetzt mit Choke zusammen den Grundstein für die kommenden Jahre.
Das neue Album ist selftitled und hört somit auf den Namen "Slapshot", was in jedem Fall ein Wink mit dem Zaunpfahl ist, wo die Reise hingeht, nämlich zurück zu den Wurzeln!16 Nummern in 35 Minuten versprechen ein Oldschool-Hardcore-Brett vom Feinsten und tatsächlich überzeugt die Scheibe auf Anhieb und bremst nicht durch überflüssige Break Downs in jedem Song.
Urtypischer Slapshot Sound: schnell und ungebremst, klare Ansagen die zeitweise in eingängigen Sing-A-Longs wiedergegeben werden.
