Hailing from the South Coast of England from a fairly large town called Hastings, the band started off life called 'Charlie and the Criminals'. They notched up a few gigs under this name before opting for the 'Clockwork Criminals'. Despite the 'Young and Bold' EP coming out in 82 it was recorded in 1980. They played along side most of the other local bands that were around on the same gig circuit like 'Smeggy and the Cheesybits', 'The Teenbeats', 'The Pirahnas' and just about all the other top South Coast bands. Sadly the band only released one single but also had another track featured on a compilation album called 'Bullshit Detector' that was released on the 'Crass' label. Not like you... sounds a bit antagonistic, doesn't it? And that's probably how it should be understood: With their third single after a longer hibernation, the SKINFLICKS are back with a real streetpunk anthem that immediately harks back to the glory days of British Oi! and whose legends make one think; a real catchy tune that elevates outsiderdom to art! With this song, the SKINFLICKS deliver an absolute classic that immediately inspires you to sing along and at the same time shows the middle finger to all forms of the establishment. "Not Like You" is a streetpunk anthem that deals with the attitude towards life of the oppressed, the outsider and the shameless. With their rousing chorus, the SKINFLICKS celebrate their difference and don't let anyone interfere. On the B-side, the Luxembourgers have thrown in their recently re-recorded evergreen “What I Am”; a song that can confidently be called THE classic in the SKINFLICKS repertoire: "What I Am" has been replayed by countless punk bands all over the world in the last 25 years and is considered an absolute scene classic. Growing up through the 70's and early 80's, young, out of work and fucking angry, like most of the youth in Britain we spent our time hanging around the corners, never far from trouble, going to gigs, drinking and being influenced by bands like the "Sex Pistols", "Sham 69", "Cockney Rejects" and "Motörhead" to name a few...As the years went on we all got jobs and raised our families, still with a middle finger stuck up at the system and its corrupt leaders.Jump forward 30+ years and the kids have left home and three, still angry old fuckers decided to dust off the instruments and in 2016 "LOAD" were born!"Older none the wiser, the spirit still lives on", three old Fuckers who should know better but don't! Messing around playing cover of songs we loved back in the day, realising the scene was still going strong we decided to start writing our own material and this vinyl is the result of that!No politics or religion, just all out rock thuggery, played with a passion and conviction which is as meaningful now as it ever was!"Yeah we're fuckin' old but we're still in your face, this one goes out to the faithful crew."Stick this album on, turn it loud and have a lovely cup of tea!Load are:Al Tiffen - Bass / VocalsTony Cullingford - Drums (A.B.H.)Dave Brown - GuitarLimited to:500x blackTracklist:A1 Working ManA2 Blood on the streetsA3 Diamond in the roughA4 RunA5 Cup of teaA6 Peaky blindersA7 Weekend warriorsB1 My townB2 Dead heroesB3 Fist of furyB4 StuffB5 Tattoos & scarsB6 Billy no matesB7 IceniB8 Untouchable
